Abstract

RESENDE, Marineia Crosara de  and  BARBOS, Karen Borges. Inclusive collaborative competition: protagonism, empowerment and visibility of person´s with disability. Pesqui. prát. psicossociais [online]. 2018, vol.13, n.4, pp. 1-12. ISSN 1809-8908.

The social participation of people with disabilities has an excludent aspect, due to the stigma imposed by difference. This paper aims to present the report of the event "Inclusive Gymkhana", which aimed to give visibility to people with disabilities. Participants was 72 people with and without disabilities. The activities performed in the gymkhana were: kayak race, wheelchair race, presentation of personalities, games with recycled materials. The most relevant aspects of the Gymkhana were representativeness and visibility. In a space made by people with disabilities for people with disabilities, the protagonism prevailed. To assert the motto "nothing about us, without us," people with disabilities must be entrusted with the movements and segments that concern to them. The struggle for the deconstruction of the stereotype is daily and challenging, so that people with disabilities can obtain due respect and visibility in a society that also belongs to them.
