Abstract

CARPANEZ, Thársia Girardi; LOURENCO, Lélio Moura  and  BHONA, Fernanda Monteiro de Castro. Intimate partner violence and alcohol use: a qualitative study with women in the city of Juiz de Fora-MG. Pesqui. prát. psicossociais [online]. 2019, vol.14, n.2, pp. 1-18. ISSN 1809-8908.

This work aims to analyze the relationship between alcohol consumption and the occurrence of violence between partners through the point of view of women victims of violence. For this, we used the technique of analysis of thematic content proposed by Bardin, applied in the accounts of 15 women who reported victimization by the partner by completing a standardized scale to evaluate these behaviors (CTS2-Revised Conflict Tactic Scales). This sample is from a probabilistic household survey and the reports were collected through semi-structured interviews. The results highlight the speech by the women, blaming drink and the influence of alcohol for changes in behavioral and psychological aspects of the aggressor. It's interesting to highlight that most women despite believing in the interference of alcohol on the episodes of violence didn't report marital consumption, that is, in violence the partners were not drunk.
