The objective of the article is to outline hypothesis on the role played by the trickster archetype in the form of roguing in the conjunction of the identity or the composition of the Brazilian psyche. What is its function, which of its aspects are positive and which are destructive? We start from the hypothesis that the Rogue is the expression of a broader cultural complex that, according to the post-Jungian, can induce the development of creativity, although to pathology also. The method used was the Content Analysis of the songs by Chico Buarque that deal with the Rogue, its characteristics and meanings in the transformation of the Brazilian culture. The results suggest that the trickster Rogue appears in the outbreak of the |Brazilian history, either in the upper social classes, or in the poor ones. Its presence made Brazilians develop ways of deceiving, of being cunning, astute, shrewd and bold. But, the destructive aspect took nowadays to psychopathic forms of acting as corruption, and other ethic disorders.
