Abstract

VAZ, Raphael do Amaral  and  VAZ, Wagner de Menezes. The individuation process of university students as management of suicidal behavior. Pesqui. prát. psicossociais [online]. 2019, vol.14, n.4, pp. 1-12. ISSN 1809-8908.

This article aims to articulate the power of the Jungian concept of individuation with the management of the suicidal behavior of the university student. It presents the university in its challenges and possibilities, and contextualizes the student in its existential aspects within this scenario. It shows the concepts of persona and shadow and their connection to the process of individuation. It proposes the organization of suicide support services for the prevention and postvention of suicidal behavior. It describes the risk and protection factors that guide intervention strategies. It elicits the de-literalization of suicide as an endogenous reading strategy of the soul. It concludes that the individuation process of university students is a powerful ally in understanding, overcoming and preventing suicidal behavior.

Keywords : Jung; Analytical Psychology; University student; Suicidal behavior; Individuation.
