Mozambique is a country where the formation of a person's personality is confronted by both cultural and traditional aspects, where the concept of disability is fraught with beliefs and professional psychology practices encounters clashes between western and local knowledge. This study aimed at discussing the importance of knowing the different conceptions of disability in the professional psychology practices in Mozambique, and it was based on review of relevant literature map conceptions of disability in the Western, narratives to gather information about the different conceptions of disability in Mozambican society and interviews to address some professional psychology practices in Mozambique. During this process it was learnt that there is always a danger when the told story is only one sided at the risk of getting biased results. And it was concluded that in order to better deal with aspects of disability, it is necessary to share western knowledge as well as Mozambican traditional so that it is possible to have a more accessible and welcoming professional practice in relation to people with disabilities.
