The article problematizes the performance of the psychologist within the scope of the Unified Health System (SUS). Based on the understanding of guiding principles of the SUS and the integrative practices of the National Humanization Policy, it is considered to raise the interaction of academic knowledge with local knowledge and practices. It is argued that the search for solutions connected to the different realities found in SUS should be part of the psychologist's practice, oriented toward social transformation. The subject is treated from a critical perspective, mobilizing theoretical views with a intent to analytical performance.
