Abstract

OKAMOTO, Marta Maria; BROIDE, Emilia Estivalet  and  VICENTIN, Maria Cristina Gonçalves. Pichon-Rivière: a "Latin American Psychosociology" for today's times. Pesqui. prát. psicossociais [online]. 2021, vol.16, n.2, pp. 1-16. ISSN 1809-8908.

In the current scene, in which the sanitary (due to the new coronavirus) and the Brazilian political crises are intertwined with physical distancing and daily micro fascisms, it is necessary to reaffirm the power of group work. We, herein, revisit the proposal of Pichon-Rivière's Operative Theories and Techniques, recognizing its emergence, in Latin American sociopolitical context, under political violence and authoritarianism, and its pertinence as psychosociological praxis, with power of intervention in current gloomy times. Based on a literature review, we have revisited the main conceptual and methodological formulations of the Theory and Technique of Operative Groups. Fragments of a recent experience of an operative group with immigrant adolescents or children of immigrants in the city of São Paulo make us reaffirm the group power as to the production of common ground in heterogeneity and as an affirmation of the collective over the individualism operating in a capitalistic and neoliberal social model. In times of suffocation, restriction of freedoms, attacks on social rights, groups are and should be places of resistance.

Keywords : Operative group; Pichon-Rivière; Immigration; Adolescence.
