COSTA, Pedro Henrique Antunes da  e  MENDES, Kíssila Teixeira. The Misery of Brazilian Psychology: Capital Subordination and Colonization-Dependency. Pesqui. prát. psicossociais [online]. 2021, vol.16, n.2, pp. 1-17. ISSN 1809-8908.

In the article we discuss Brazilian Psychology misery. In view of its consolidation and development, we recover Marx's analysis of capitalism development, Martín-Baró's analysis of the colonized-dependent character of Latin American Psychology and the Marxist tradition in Psychology. In this, we expose the idealistic misery of Psychology, bourgeois science subordinated to capital and profession. Later, we looked at the colonial-dependent misery of Brazilian Psychology, as an expression of the country's colonial-dependent formation, highlighting contradictions, limitations and possibilities. The suppression of our Psychology misery is the suppression of a sociability that makes it miserable; that expresses its misery by Psychology, making it miserable and becoming (even more) miserable. However, as possible paths, we point out the need for Psychology to go beyond itself as a particular science and profession, drawing contributions from other fields and, above all, taking the needs of the popular majorities as its own.
