Abstract

GUEVARA RUISENOR, Elsa S.. Construcción de la masculinidad en la escuela y la familia en jóvenes universitarios. Psicol. Am. Lat. [online]. 2006, n.8, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1870-350X.

This research is about the masculinity socialization by family and school in young men. The autobiographical narrative with eight university students was used to explore the structure and setting which both institutions form masculinities. The results showed that the students who lived in less hierarchic families, where the father participated in the domestic tasks and they haven’t been educated by religious values, they showed one more critical position to the traditional models of masculinity and it allowed them to establish equitable relations with the women. As well, the schools or professional areas with more authoritarian educative systems and greater markers of gender promoted less equitable models of masculinity. The social class, the belongings in a rural or urban sector and the groups of pairs form settings that articulate these processes of socialization.

Keywords : Masculinidad; Escuela; Familia; Estudiantes.
