Violence against children and adolescents in the intra-family environment has been more and more exposed, as it must be pointed out the importance of Brazilian ad campaigns as well as the appearance of the topic in the media. By use of documental retrospective methodology of dossiers’ consulting of cases attended by seven Tutoring Councils of São Paulo State Capital in the year 2000, we aimed at gathering a set of characteristics of both victim and aggressor. We studied 305 registered cases, comprising (52%) of physical violence, (22%) of abandon, (16%) of negligence, (8%) of sexual violence and (2%) of psychological violence. Victims belonged to different ranges of age, with no meaningful gender difference. Aggressors were usually relatives, with aggressions inflicted predominantly by their mothers. The aggressor characterization was impaired by the absence of their data on the dossiers. The main denouncers were their own relatives.
