This research aims to characterize the figure(s) of the Brazilian migrant that had the city of São Paulo as his/ her arrival point. It is based on the analysis of an attitudinal and perceptive system called strategic capacity of incorporation, adaptation and satisfaction. Interviews were conducted with 110 migrants in the center area of São Paulo about their life history. Three focal groups were also conducted aiming to deepen analysis. Results indicate the differentiation of the migrants in two groups following their feeling or not feeling satisfaction about living in the city. Recommendations as to intervention are suggested.
