The present study is aimed to perform a comparison of the psychological (subjective) well-being levels between the inhabitants from Sonora, Mexico and Paraíba, Brazil as well as a comparison of sex, age, educational level and occupational differences from emotions and life satisfaction. The Inhabitants from Hermosillo perceive a higher level of happiness. A lower level of satisfaction with regards to government and economy is perceived by the youth of Sonora, while the youth of Paraíba is more satisfied with economy, family and society. A higher educational level improves the perception of life satisfaction in Sonora and it becomes higher on those with an elementary school degree in Paraíba, basically with regards to religion, economy and government matters. A differentiation in collectivism-individualism is discussed.
