Abstract

ROZAS, G.; PARDO, M.  and  YANEZ, L.. Efectos de la modernidad y la post-modernidad en la comunidad indígena Licarantay o Atacameña de San Pedro de Atacama. Psicol. Am. Lat. [online]. 2008, n.12, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1870-350X.

This work focuses on the effects of globalization in the indigenous communities of San Pedro de Atacama, Chile. The specific effects of interventions implemented from different agencies like the State, Non-Governmental Organizations, Charities and the private sector are analyzed here. This study addresses the changes experienced by the indigenous communities as a result of the intervention of these external agencies. For example, changes in economic productivity and socio-cultural dynamics. The communities’ adaptive response to these changes is revealed through this analysis. This response can be seen as a result of the adaptive capacity of the Atacamena Culture which has been developed through its 11,000 thousand years of existence.

Keywords : Community; Indigenous; Modernity.
