Abstract

This paper aimed the construction of a work stress vulnerability scale, named EVENT, developed in two steps with samples of 388 and 948 undergraduate workers respectively, searching construct validity evidences. Factors were well defined on both steps, with little item migration, and with adequate psychometric quality to international patterns, as to communalities values and items distributions, and as to fidedignity. The final scale was composed by 40 items and three factors, called Climate and Organizational Functioning (16 items), Pressure at Work (13 items), and Routine and Infrastructure (11 items). The reliability rates ranged from 0.77 to 0.91. It was expected EVENT to be a scale able to help professionals related to organizational area to detect employees, as well as teams and acting areas with higher stress vulnerability.
