Resumo

The research aimed to learn about the experience with urban violence through interviews conducted with 17 people, victims and people who had different degrees of closeness, through the methodology of research in network, in which the interviewees indicated others that known of the occurrence. The interviews addressed the following items of interest: information of the cases of violence and its effects, as well as strategies to confront the violence. The data, organized by the Content Analysis, indicated the presence of emotional and behavioral effects, such as prevention and change of routine, and it's most evident in people who knew what happened through the victim; trivialization of violence; different feelings in relation to the victim and the aggressor; disbelief in the system of public security and prevalence of individual strategies in the face of violence, in addition, the fear caused by an imaginary social that violence would happen now.
