Abstract

Present the purpose of showing a face for many obscure of the society, this research had as objective the study of the Hip Hop Movement, which was evaluated as form of social and political reply. The method chosen was to hear youngsters that participate in the Hip Hop Movement, besides the bibliographical research. In the course of the study, we could verify that the Hip Hop Movement is a new political subject in the public sphere of the daily life of the periphery. The composers of the rap show up as urban narrators. They approach in their narratives themes regarding their experience in the polis. The art of the Hip Hop Movement facilitates the youngsters the valorization of oneself and of the periphery, information and knowledge and substitution of the violence by the power of the ideas and of the words.
