Abstract

MOREIRA, Jacqueline de Oliveira. Mídia e Psicologia: considerações sobre a influência da internet na subjetividade. Psicol. Am. Lat. [online]. 2010, n.20, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1870-350X.

This short article represents an attempt to discuss the influence that media holds on subjectivity. We believe that thinking about historical conditions which influence and create modes of subjectivization is a responsibility of the psychological field of knowledge. The creation of the press has allowed for a larger number of individuals to have access to books, hence valuing the individual experience; for this reason we favor the thesis that states there is a historical co-dependence between media and subjectivity. All kinds of print and television-broadcast media determine modes of existence, of subjectivity and of relationship, but the new media, represented by the internet, broadens the potential of subjective production, modifying the subjects’ physical, mental and social experiences. We also highlight that the new media, connecting the subject through the internet, leads to more efficient impact on subjectivity, changing the perception of time and space and the idea of subjective autonomy.

Keywords : media; internet; psychology; subjectivity.
