We investigated in this paper the relationship between levels of self-efficacy of physics teachers with the academic background. Our sample consisted of a 136 teachers who worked in the northwestern state of Sao Paulo and in the northwestern state of Parana. The analysis consisted of correlation tests and analysis of variance. As a result we highlight the association between higher levels of self-efficacy of teachers with academic background in physics, which indicates the importance of offering adequate training to physics teachers in our country.
