Abstract

VIVEROS ORDONEZ, Ana Luisa; TEPEPA FLORES, Li Erandi; MEDINA, Ariana Ma. Luisa Hernández  and  DOMINGUEZ TREJO, Benjamín. Mineros de Chile. "Prueba de campo" de la Teoría Polivagal. Psicol. Am. Lat. [online]. 2011, n.21, pp. 82-104. ISSN 1870-350X.

Due to its high social and media impact a "field test" study of Polivagal Theory was performed of the "Chilean miners" accident in order to identify their emotional changes analyzing facial activity variations (Ekman, 1979). According to Porges (1992, 2001, 2005 and 2009) this variations maybe understood as a reflection of the social engagement system which shown the state of the neural-visceral regulation which becomes observable on face changes. Relying on the public available media-data it was analyzed face emotional changes and body language of each miner. It was found a predictive value of this data, cause it was possible to identify those who eventually required experts psychological interventions. We pretend to develop and test "socio-emotional markers" of stress vulnerability with a neural and autonomic base supported on vagal tone measurement in order to discriminate an inclination to develop a posttraumatic stress syndrome condition for its adequate treatment.
