Abstract

GALLARDO, Alberto Miranda. Towards a model of theoretical competition: the disputes and scientific change. Psicol. Am. Lat. [online]. 2014, n.26, pp. 44-62. ISSN 1870-350X.

Is presented the second version of the model of theoretical competition as a driver of scientific change and as a way to explain the role of the critic in theoretical refinement. From the pre-Socratics, through Plato, there is the intuition that critical dialogue is a way of developing ideas further. Later, philosophers of science such as Popper, Lakatos, Feyerabend, Laudan and Kitcher, think the theoretical competence plays a key role in the refinement and choice of theories, but does not propose a model in this respect. Therefore, in this paper is proposed a model of theoretical competition that explains the role of the critic and theory selection, in special of the scientific controversies.

Keywords : theoretical competence; scientific change; critical dialogue.
