Abstract

VAZQUEZ-AQUINO, Susana. Memory-Time-Processing: New development for the treatment of post traumatic stress disorder. Psicol. Am. Lat. [online]. 2014, n.26, pp. 106-129. ISSN 1870-350X.

It presents and analyzes the results of the application of a treatment called Memory-Time-Processing: A Rescue Metaphor in 12 steps a treatment for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Cognitive- behavioral approach, projection is used -a form of "exposure"-, to "relive" the trauma in imagination, and for processing and re-contextualization temporal of PTSD. Are used Ericksonian Hypnosis and NLP tools, and case studies, systemic framework. The 12 steps are described. Was administered to 15 patients with a diagnosis of PTSD and 15 others assigned to the control group. Research mixed type with surviving victims and relatives of victims of the fire Ycuá Bolaños, in Asuncion, Paraguay, in August 2004. Data were collected through semi-structured interview, Checklist PCL-C (Wheather, Husca & Keane, 1991) that confirmed diagnoses of PTSD. Symptoms were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. Results demonstrated high efficacy of the treatment.
