Abstract

The hypersexual disorder is a diagnosis that although very prevalent in general population it still follows underdiagnosed in clinical samples. This condition has high association with substance related disorder and with other sexual conditions, such as paraphilic disorder, with significant burden of suffering and intimacy difficulty to its carrier. Rare are the studies of Latin America from clinical samples that discuss the possibilities of this comorbid disorder and possible management strategies and insights to this complex condition. Thus, it is justified the purpose of this paper that is to present an update on the hypersexual disorder and its comorbidities through a clinical case Within the perspectives of biological cognitive-behavioral and psychoanalytic vision in the context of the new diagnostic guidelines of the DSM V and the future ICD 11.
