Resumen

RUIZ, María Teresa Reyes. College students to people with HIV/Aids. Psicol. Am. Lat. [online]. 2014, n.27, pp. 119-143. ISSN 1870-350X.

The world we inhabit is characterized by a variety of expressions such as sexual, political, ideological or religious preference, social, physical or health status, among others. Reality demands a culture of citizenship so that individuals are able to coexist harmoniously. Hence the aim of investigating how people living with HIV are perceived by students from three universities in León, Guanajuato, from whom a civic culture of acceptance is expected. Research was conducted based on the Natural Semantic Networks technique. Results show that the civic culture of the students is characterized by acceptance when emitting expressions such as individual, care and responsibility. Moreover manifestations of stigma are perceived when expressing words like illness, death, contagion and sex; as well as when recognizing the discriminatory fact when formulating terms as discrimination, AIDS and rejection.

Palabras clave : Acceptance; stigma; discrimination; university students; citizenship culture.
