This paper is the state of knowledge and analysis of research conducted for ten years in Mexico, on the perspective of higher education students themselves about their academic development. 55 investigations were located in ten years (2003-2012), 50 in degree of licentiate and 5 in postdegree. Most of them was published as review's article, developed in a quantitative methodology perspective and conducted mainly in Mexico City. From the analysis it is concluded that, although the number of these investigations is still scarce, a progressive increase has been observed over the years, but also that the traditional perspective on being and doing research has not been transcended.
