Abstract

The adaptation to higher education can bring several challenges to students and therefore, non-adaptation and avoidance in higher education, have presented high rates in university students, demonstrating the importance of understanding how academic adaptation occurs. The research had as objective to evaluate the adaptation to the university context in students of different courses and semesters. A total of 239 university students attended the courses of Administration (N = 19), Accounting (N = 28), Civil Engineering (N = 23), Production Engineering (N = 26), Physiotherapy (N = 50), Pedagogy = 42) and Psychology (N = 51), with mean ages of 22.5 and 65.8% were women. The instrument used was the Adaptation to Higher Education Questionnaire (QAES). The results indicated that the students obtained higher averages in terms of career design, institutional adaptation and social adaptation, demonstrating good university adaptation and course choice.
