Abstract

REPPOLD, Caroline Tozzi et al. Advances in Positive Psychology in Brazil. Psicol. Am. Lat. [online]. 2019, n.32, pp. 133-141. ISSN 1870-350X.

The purpose of this paper is to present the perspective of how Positive Psychology emerged and developed in Brazil. Some constructs (such as resilience, life satisfaction and self-esteem), which are part of the Positive Psychology approach, began to be studied in Brazil in the 1990s. Since then, the growth of the area has been significant. The present paper describes this movement, showing that Brazil has researchers in all regions of the country producing new knowledge in the area and creating scientific associations focused on the dissemination of studies and scientific articulation. Advances in the field are evident in theoretical and technical terms. We highlight the studies related to the creation / adaptation of instruments to evaluate themes in the area and some already published proposals of interventions based on Positive Psychology precepts in different contexts, especially in the areas of health, education and organizations, including international partnerships.

Keywords : Positive Psychology; Psychology in Brazil; History of psychology; Psychological assessment; Psychological intervention.
