Resumen

OLIVEIRA, Mateus Rodrigues de  y  SCHLOSSER, Adriano. Brazilian is so: Fatalism associated with identity about being brazilian. Psicol. Am. Lat. [online]. 2020, n.33, pp. 23-32. ISSN 1870-350X.

The interest of choosing this theme in the Brazilian context concerns the generalizations and the implications that fatalistic behaviors and attitudes can cause. This research seeks to identify the fatalistic contents in the discourse about the identity of the Brazilian being. From a qualitative approach, 16 individuals participated, aged 18 to 30 years, divided equally by gender. Semidirective individual interviews were conducted at a pre-scheduled time and place. The interviews were transcribed and then categorical thematic analysis was performed using the Bardin content analysis technique, creating 3 categories: identity, brazilian behavior and regional ideologies. The results found manifest multiple facets of fatalistic behaviors, which are expressed in the discourse of the Brazilian being, and so internalized that they are not reflective about their social construction. Given the importance of the subject, it is necessary to develop other ways of identifying manifestations of fatalism, as well as in other specific contexts and groups.
