Abstract

GONZALEZ, Hugo; PERSINGOLA, Laura G.; CAVAZZONI, Alessandra Zanotti  and  BAGNOLI, Laura. Perception of street sexual harassment in women. Psicol. Am. Lat. [online]. 2020, n.34, pp. 121-131. ISSN 1870-350X.

The main objective of this research was to determine the level of sexual Harassment in the public road perceived by women residing in Asunción and the Central Department of Paraguay. The participants were 505 women between 18 and 54 years old, who transit on public roads. The sexual harassment questionnaire on public roads of Persíngola and Zanotti (2018) was applied, built and validated with a sample of women resident in Paraguay, wich evaluates three dimensions: Verbal/Gestural Harassment; Indirect Harassment; and Physical/Invasive harassment. Results indicate that the majority experienced Street Sexual Harassment at times, with verbal/gestural harassment being the most frequent. It was also seen that younger women have greater exposure to sexual harassment in the public road. Further investigations with cultural considerations are recommended.

Keywords : Sexual harassment; Verbal harassment; Indirect harassment; Physical harassment; Invasive harassment.
