Resumen

The psychological literature has shown an increase in interest in research in the elderly population, as well as the impacts of resulting from the growing life expectancy in the world. In this sense, this study aimed analyze the subjective well-being and quality of life constructs, verifying the possible influence between the constructs in a sample of elderly people. The sample was composed of 71 people with age between 60 and 85 years (M=68,20), 58 of these were women (81.69%). These elderlies were divided into groups of three to five people, and they answered the Subjective Wellbeing Scale and the WHOQOL-Old. The results indicated that positive affects had a moderate influence on the aspects of autonomy and past, present and future activities, while negative affects had a weak influence on all facets of quality of life. Finally, satisfaction with life influenced only the social participation facet of quality of life. The data are analyzed with the literature and considerations are made about the importance of the constructs for this particular population.
