Abstract

COMAS-NAZARIO, Ángel R.. Crisis in the world of work. Psicol. Am. Lat. [online]. 2021, n.35, pp. 1-14. ISSN 1870-350X.

Since the 1970s, the world of work has gone through profound transformations due to the restructuring of capitalist modes of production. These are, also, facilitated by the neoliberal management of economic globalization, the accelerated and constant changes presented by Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and by the end of the Keynesian State. In result, work conditions have become precarious, which are reflected in fragile labor relations, economic instability, and toxic work environments, among others. Given this framework, it is argued that Industrial / Organizational Psychology (IOP) faces important theoretical-methodological challenges. Therefore, it is urgent to study the historical role of this discipline to reconsider its intellectual work that could integrate a perspective focused on workers in their organizational and subjective action; far from the exclusive employer-mindset ideology that favors the IOP.

Keywords : industrial / organizational psychology; work and organizational psychology; work psychologization; labor market.
