Abstract

LACERDA NETO, Miguel de Sousa; GUIMARAES JUNIOR, Sergio Dias; MONTEAGUDO, Patricia Morales  and  FERREIRA, João Batista. Racism, work and psychology: ethical-political provocations in the light of the pandemic by COVID-19. Psicol. Am. Lat. [online]. 2021, n.35, pp. 105-112. ISSN 1870-350X.

This essay critically discusses articulations between race, labor, and psychology in light of the pandemic by COVID-19. The discussion was referenced in the narrative literature review and by the critique of colonialism. The pandemic highlighted the severity of Brazil’s socio-historical conditions of inequality, maintenance of racial asymmetries and privilege, intensifying harmful effects on the health of the black population in the labor context. This essay fits the proposal of an ethical-political and anti-racist psychology, endorsing the elaboration of public policies for health care at work, during and after the pandemic.

Keywords : Covid-19; pandemic; racism; labor health; psychology.
