Abstract

LAPA, Bianca S. et al. The Use of Territorial Listening in the Creation of Clinical Devices for Critical Social Circumstances. Psicol. Am. Lat. [online]. 2021, n.36, pp. 171-182. ISSN 1870-350X.

This article describes the experience of a group of psychologists in developing a free clinic device at a community healthcare facility, with the objective of providing assistance for the psychological needs of the population served and the institution employees. The concepts of transference and "territorial listening" were used in the methodology. The creation of a non-hegemonic psychology work, engaged socially, involves creating a new-praxis, lined up with the social reality presented and involves searching for ways to ensure rights and minimize social disparity. Conflicts and contradictions were utilized as means for the creation of this clinical device, enabling self empowerment, and assuring to people who have been silent by consequence of their precarious life conditions a place they could be listened to. By the use of this device of psychoanalytic listening, we witnessed a recovery of dignity, rights and desires on the people assisted.
