Abstract

The diagnoses of fibromyalgia have gradually increased in Brazil, making it essential to create health promotion strategies for this population. This study presented a case of fibromyalgia related to family conflicts and discussed the dynamics of health care arising from a support group. Qualitative case study research. Data collection was performed from a semi-structured questionnaire, the interview was recorded and transcribed verbatim and the representative narratives organized into topics for better visualization. The family conflicts triggered depressive symptoms in the subject, who was also diagnosed with fibromyalgia depressive being the support group identified as an important space for mental health promotion from the combat of psychic suffering.
