Abstract

PONS, José I. et al. Estudios de validez de la Escala de Inteligencia Wechsler para Adultos Versión III, Puerto Rico (EIWA-III). Rev. Puertorriq. Psicol. [online]. 2008, vol.19, pp. 75-111. ISSN 1946-2026.

The Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale III (WAIS-III) was translated, culturally adapted and standardized for a Puerto Rican population by the present research group. The new Escala de Inteligencia Wechsler para Adultos III (EIWA-III) has the new subtests of the WAIS-III that assess additional intellectual processes such as working memory and processing speed. The psychometric studies done as part of the standardization process support the concurrent and predictive validity of the EIWA-III. They also confirm that the scale has good content validity as its internal structure is identical to that of the original WAIS-III: a four factor structure. We obtained evidence of discriminant validity comparing adults with intellectual disability (MR) and with superior intelligence, with a matched sample of subjects taken from the normalization sample.

Keywords : Validity; Wechsler Intelligence Scales; WAIS-III.
