Abstract

BAUERMEISTER, José J.; CUMBA-AVILES, Eduardo; MARTINEZ, José V.  and  PUENTE, Aníbal. El inventario de experiencia familiar: una medida del impacto de los hijos e hijas en los padres y madres. Rev. Puertorriq. Psicol. [online]. 2008, vol.19, pp. 216-222. ISSN 1946-2026.

The Family Experiences Inventory (FEI) has various scales to evaluate how the child's behavior in different settings or his way of being affects the parents' feelings and cognitions towards each child, family's social life, school relationships, parents' expenses, sibling relationships and spouse's or partner's relationships. We present a summary of the psychometric properties of the FEI as reported in other scientific publications, that sustain the construct validity, internal consistency, temporal reliability, and concurrent and discriminant validity of FEI. These results provide substantial evidence for the potential use of FEI to evaluate the stress associated with rearing children of school age (611 years) in parents from Puerto Rico and Spain, and their perception of the impact of their children's behavior on family life.
