VERDUZCO, Ignacio Lozano  e  DIAZ-LOVING, Rolando. Medición de la identidad sexual en México. Rev. Puertorriq. Psicol. [online]. 2010, vol.21, pp. 133-154. ISSN 1946-2026.

Sexual identity in Mexico has been approached theoretically from two distinct models. Sexual identity is considered to be central for individual development; influencing the way a person is, acts, relates, thinks and feels. Two models were used to develop a scale to measure sexual identity: Castañeda’s model, and the Generic Preference Model developed by the Mexican Institute of Sexology. The items for the scale were written based on the four areas of Castañeda’s model and were answered in a likert type scale of six options. The items were answered by 252 participants living in Mexico City with ages ranging between 14 and 77. A T Student test was used to determine the power of discrimination of each item; a Cronbach’s alfa was applied for reliability, and an orthogonal rotation factor analysis was used to determine de construct validity. A robust, conceptually clear 20 item scale emerged, with a reliability of 0.82 and an explained variance of 68%.
