This research is part of a mayor project that attempts to obtain data about the actual situation of psychotherapy in Argentina. The survey was administered in June of 2005 and designed at an ad-hoc level to evaluate the perception of common people about psychologists and psychotherapy. The questionnaire contains 14 items and was administered to 184 people from different cities of our country. Results suggest that, in general, people evaluate psychotherapeutic interventions in a positive way. Over 40% of the surveyed received psychotherapy and showed high conformity with the help received, even in cases in which the request was not motivated by a disorder. Most of the treatments lasted between one to six months. Finally, it was found that women tend to search for emotional support and men are more concerned in finding psychologists that are effective at a professional level.
