DIAZ, Víctor R. Mercado; JESUS, Víctor D. Molina De; PEREIRA, Lino A. Hernández  y  FERNANDEZ, Héctor L. Méndez. Biomedical and psychological factors to shock in a group of puerto rican veterans. Rev. Puertorriq. Psicol. [online]. 2014, vol.25, pp. 80-95. ISSN 1946-2026.

This study searched, using both quantitative and qualitative information; to identify significant factors to the development of PTSD in 52 Puerto Rico National Guard's veterans back from combat in Iraq and Afghanistan. The factorial analysis of the questionnaire's responses shows three main dimensions of significant traumatic events. Previous experiences of sexual abuse in childhood and/or adolescence, physical threat or actual aggression, including physical abuse of children and experiences of loss of loved ones are important factors in the development of trauma symptoms in those participants with combat experience. The implications of these findings, the conclusions and recommendations for further research are included in this paper.

Palabras clave : Psychological factors; trauma; Afghanistan's veterans; Irak.
