MONTEIRO, Kátia Cristine Cavalcante. Informed consent in hospital psychology research. Epistemo-somática [online]. 2007, vol.4, n.1, pp. 84-92. ISSN 1980-2005.

The aims of the present study are to discuss the informed consent in hospital psychology research. The consent term is a document suggested for international declarations and resolutions that turn concerning the research involving human beings. In this document the consent of the human being in being part of the research is essential and its main function is to establish the responsibility of the researcher to assure the access to the necessary information so that the citizen understands which procedures will be carried through and judges if it is interesting, or not, to participate. The hospital psychologist can act as researcher or as member of a Committee of Ethics in Research, but his main challenge is to suggest mechanisms that diminish the asymmetry of the relation between scientists and volunteers, and to assure a dialogue process that guarantees, not only the voluntary of the individual, but that a real process of communication between parts occurs.
