Abstract

THEVENOT, Anne  and  METZ, Claire. Psychomotor instability or hyperactivity?: risks of the mistakes in the discourses about child psychopathology. Epistemo-somática [online]. 2007, vol.4, n.2, pp. 49-61. ISSN 1980-2005.

Some years ago new significants, as hyperactivity, and OCD, appeared in child psychopathology field. Presented as a new pathology, hyperactivity seems to really point to a psychomotor instability. This new term defines a behavior disorder and its decrease, in spite of a complex psychodynamic vision of the subject. Well, to pay attention only to behavior expressions, without considering its symptomatic dimension, leads to the neglect of the complexity of the conscious and unconscious phenomenons, that acts in the subject in his singular and familiar dimension. We propose, based in a research with a child population labelled as hyperactive, to question this symptomatic dimension and mark in which picture this nosography chance interfere and the risks of this new significant in the child psychopathology discourse.

Keywords : Child psychopathology; Diagnosis; Symptom; Psychomotor instability.
