The idea of this story not only guarantees a look for the sick person, but also for the familiar one. It is for "looking at beyond" the patient, that we arrive many times in his escort. The author tells the case of an engineer who saw in the logic of the numbers the illogical one in its wife interned in the ICU: her illness. Moreover, the experience discloses the limitation of a love for pain and shows until where an enslaved heart of the duty goes.
