Resumen

BARROS, Keila Sgobi de. Clipping of sport career transition. Rev. bras. psicol. esporte [online]. 2008, vol.2, n.1, pp. 01-27. ISSN 1981-9145.

The career transition occurs in the most diverse professions. We call sport career transitions since the phases of development of the athlete in the sport, until the closing of the sport career. This bibliographical revision intends to understand as the Sport Psychology approaches this subject. For this, we searched to define the process of sport career transition, its phases and how the athletes perceive and face each moment. Some conceptual models had been displayed that have as objective to prepare the athlete for this phase, valuing its previous knowledge and searching to fortify it. The work provided to verify that the performance of the sport psychologist must be developed, meeting scarce reference bibliographical, specifically in Brazil, where just two revisions of literature regarding the subject had been related. It can be concluded that the sport psychologist needs to act in this field for the understanding of the national reality, considering economic, social and cultural characteristics of the sport´s context and the individuality of our athlete, its necessities and difficulties so that specific programs has been developed in order to face the resultant adversities of transistions that occur during the sport career.
