Abstract

SANCHES, Simone Meyer  and  DOSIL DIAS, Joaquín. A positive view about sport psychology: contributions of the positive psychology. Rev. bras. psicol. esporte [online]. 2008, vol.2, n.2, pp. 1-23. ISSN 1981-9145.

The present work introduces a new approach that is gaining visibility called Positive Psychology. It makes the dialogue between the ideas and concepts of this doctrine with the Sport Psychology and the possible contributions for the formation and the practice of the professional of the area. Gable & Haidt (2005) defines Positive Psychology as the study of the conditions and processes that contribute for the maturing and optimization of the performance of the people, groups and institutions. According to Snyder & Lopez (2009), this boarding came to offer a balance in relation to the predominant theories in the Psychology whose approach was focused on the pathology, considering also the importance to consider the defects (and mainly) as well as the qualities of the people. This change of paradigm certainly will be reflected in the improvement of the performance of the athlete (not only on the sport’s field, but on the distinct contexts where he is inserted), as well as of its satisfaction and tack to the sportive activity.
