The Athlete’s Psychological Profile Based on Individualism and Collectivism TheoryThe purpose of this study was to evaluate the athlete’s psychological profile classified in typological groups based on Individualism-Collectivism theory. The Interactive Model’s methodology was used to classify the athletes in typological groups. The sample was composed by 274 athletes. It were used Perfil I-A, IFEGA and IMEGA inventories. Descriptive and inferential analyses (Manova) were performed. The results showed that the Heteroidiocentric group is self oriented, searching for self-realization, power and fame. The Heteroalocentric group tends to be more sensitive to social context and pay more attention to the needs of others and the Isocentrics showed both Idiocentric and Alocentric traits, which results in egalitarian attitudes. In conclusion, all groups have ideal profiles that can be better adjusted in specific sports, in specific situations during the game and in to different play positions.
