Psychological processes and interventions in injured and rehabilitating athletesThis is a theoretical review paper, constructed from existing information in books of Sport Psychology and articles collected in PsycInfo, SciELO and LILACS. It presents a synthesis of psychological processes and social support experienced by injured and in rehabilitation athletes, as well as guidelines and procedures for psychological intervention applied on those athletes to reduce emotional damages of lesion, costs and time of treatment. It is concluded that youth athletes must be taught to prevent injuries, to recognize it earliest possible, and to correctly behave when lesions are detected.
