Abstract

DURAO, Luís Manuel de Oliveira et al. Psychometrics properties of the portuguese version of Conceptions of the Nature of Athletic Ability Questionnaire-2 (CNAAQ-2): study of strutural factorial and analysis of the validity construct. Rev. bras. psicol. esporte [online]. 2010, vol.3, n.2, pp. 102-116. ISSN 1981-9145.

This paper had as main purpose the investigation of the psychometrics properties of the Portuguese version of Conceptions of theNature of Athletic Ability Questionnaire - 2 in a sample of 512 physical education students the school community of the Municipality of Sesimbra between the ages of 12 and 18 through the study of Confirmatory Factorial Analyses (CFA) as well as the analysis of the validity construct provided by the Achievement Goal Theory (Dweck, 2002; Roberts, & Balagué, 1991). Different instruments have been applied to evaluate the achievement goal orientations (POSQvp) and athletic ability beliefs (CNAAQ-2vp). The results of the CFA model of two factors revealed a satisfactory fit of the model of measure consisting of incremental and entity ability beliefs. The reliability results of responses to the items have supplied, respectively αCronbach coefficients of .75 and .74, revealing be a instrument to be applied satisfactorily consistent in educational context. The results of path analysis of proposed theoretical structural model showed a satisfactory adjustment of the model to empirical data, and congruent with our hypotheses. Finally, we did not find a statistically significant relation between the incremental and entity constructs.
