DURAO, Luís Manuel Oliveira et al. Motivation in physical education: factors influencing the school discipline. Rev. bras. psicol. esporte [online]. 2010, vol.3, n.2, pp.136-156. ISSN 1981-9145.

The establishment of effective disciplinary actions, the education system is key to ensuring the academic success and provide a safe learning environment as a means of enabling more noble purpose, such as self-education, self-esteem and self-confidence. The purpose of this study was to analyze for a sample of 777 Physical Education students, the influence of motivational factors, personal, social and disciplinary context on the attitudes of students in Public Elementary and high school Education in Portugal. By analyzing the model of causal relationships, the results showed that, regardless of perceived competence, athletic ability beliefs and task orientation mediated by task perceived climate are more favorable predictive factors important in explaining the emergence of disciplinary actions. In addition, the task perceived climate discourages the emergence of the unruly attitudes. Finally, the consistency of results similar to other studies produced evidence of the importance of creating a task-oriented climate in physical education classes, so this provides an optimal learning of Physical Education.

Palabras clave : Conceptions of athletic ability beliefs; Goal orientations; Perceived climate; Disciplinary/indisciplinary attitudes.
