Abstract

In a paper prepared for The World Congress of Psychology (Beijing, China, 2004), The International Union of Psychological Science informed that there were approximately half a million psychologists in the world. Working in various contexts, it was gone the time in which their field of expertise, in developed countries, was limited to clinical, educational and organizational Psychology. In the last decades knowledge has greatly expanded which demanded constant actualization. In Brazil, where there are more than a hundred Psychology courses, that graduate more than five thousand psychologists a year, it is worrying to verify that what is taught, learned and practiced does not reflect the high standard, the state of the art and the multiplicity of progress that has been gained in the last decades. Some indicators of the Psychology limitations among us will be highlighted and the measures that have to be taken for the current and future Brazilian.
