Abstract

This work, which belongs to the field of History of Psychology, intends to present the foundations of Wilhelm Wundt’s concept of mind in his mature phase of psychological thought, taking into consideration his works translated to the English language. So it is hoped to comprehend a significant part of the fundamental basis of Wundt’s mature system of psychology, which has been poorly appreciated among psychologists, and to recognize its great value to debates about the investigation of mental phenomena. Furthermore, in what concerns psychology in general, it is also intended to demonstrate its dependence on philosophical activity, showing the relevance of theoretical reflection to the establishment of its legitimacy and scientific validity.
