Abstract

In a country where the life expectancy is growing on it’s important to research the factors that contribute to a better elderly’s quality of life. In this context, activity and autonomy occupy a prominent place. This work intended to investigate the possible effects of the participation of elderly people in support groups in their quality of life. The work consisted of a bibliographical survey and field research. The OMS’s quality of life evaluation instruments - WHOQOL - was applied to elderly people who integrates various groups, and people who doesn’t participate actively in any group’s activity. The results shows that those who participate actively noticed having better quality of life compared than those also active, but that don’t participate regularly of any group.
